Initiative

Affordable energy storage is often referred to as the holy grail of the clean energy transition—from accelerating the switch to electric vehicles to balancing intermittent renewable electricity sources on the grid. Recognizing this, the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth’s Energy Technologies Initiative (ETI) will drive major advancements in energy storage technologies through a combination of basic research and industry partnerships.

In India, ETI is working with the TCG Centres for Research and Education in Science and Technology (TCG CREST) to advance sodium batteries. The collaborators are currently incubating a startup company.
